In a world of random and senseless violence, and a life full of complexities and trials, it takes a great deal of effort to remain positive, but like anything else, we need to be mindful of the events that take place but not allow them to overweigh our lives. Dwelling on the hardships and atrocities only refrains you from growing as an individual and in life. Keeping a positive mindset can power you through the rough patches in life. According to the American Psychological Association people who live optimistic lives live about 7.6 years longer than people with more negative views. Remaining positive will keep you healthy!

There are many factors that come to play when remaining optimistic in life:

  • LE PositivityFinding your inner bliss. Joy is necessary and fundamental to our wellbeing. Find what makes your happy and apply it to your lifestyle. Whatever it may be, following your inner compass is important to a strong mental outlook. Doing what you love and have a passion for drives you and gives you a sense of purpose, and allows you to live a meaningful life.
  • Manage your stress effectively. Some people exercise or read; others paint or listen to music. Find what suits you best. Meditation has received more recognition and for a good reason. Focus on the present and the now. An attitude of gratitude can reduce stress by focusing on what you have instead of what you do not have.
  • Stay motivated. You have to know in what direction you are going and then follow that path. staying active and motivated can be difficult but keeping a “no quit” attitude and remembering why you started, will keep you focused on the prize.
  • Brace for anything, including the good. We do not know what will happen in the future, good or bad, so be mentally prepared for either. Staying open minded and be ready for those little pushes life gives you, and get back up. Life will also throw some amazing things at you, so be ready to catch and embrace it.
  • Be mindful of who you surround yourself with and get rid of toxic people. Choose carefully who you surround yourself with because the company you keep literally shapes you. Think about the people who you can rely on and who bring out the best in you and push you to be the best version of yourself.

Keeping a positive mindset is all about how much control you have over yourself. You are a product of your own making and only you have the power to allow someone or something to affect your inner peace and happiness.
